Caring for the Environment

IPSA is committed to helping preserve our natural resources. All shredded paper is sent to processing plants where the scraps of paper are de-inked and then re-processed into new products such as facial tissue, paper towels, and toilet tissue. Not only does this process secure your information through the de-inking and re-manufacturing process, but also saves trees, water, oil, and electricity. Recycling shredded paper prevents adding harmful pollutants to the air as well as keeping this material out of landfills.

IPSA can provide environmental impact reports for your paper recycle volume at all your locations on an annual basis.

Each 2000 lbs. (1 ton) of shredded paper that is recycled saves the equivalent of 17 trees. Additionally, the re-manufacturing process uses 7,201 fewer gallons of water, 457 fewer gallons of oil, a smaller amount of electricity (4058 kw hours less) and produces 589 fewer lbs. of air pollutants than if the same products were produced with virgin wood. One ton of paper would also take up the equivalent of 69 cubic feet of space in a landfill.

The combined membership of IPSA processes tons of shredded paper each year. This is the equivalent of 8.5 million trees, in addition to savings of:

3.6 Billion Gallons of Water

229 Million Gallons of Oil

2 Billion kw hours of Electricity

294 Million lbs. of Air Pollutants

34 Million cubic feet of Landfill Space.
